40 & 8’s Tony Gallagher honored for community service

Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, local elected officials, area veterans and members of the public crowded into the first floor of Pettis County Courthouse to honor the contributions of veterans’ advocate Tony Gallagher.

Gallagher, chef de gare (commander) of  the veterans organization 40 & 8, Voiture 333, was recognized by Kinder with a 2012 Lieutenant Governor’s Veterans Service Award during a public ceremony at the courthouse on Thursday. Kinder cited a range of veteran and community service projects overseen by Gallagher and the 40 & 8, including support of the families of Army Spc. Joe Yantz, who was injured in Afghanistan in 2010, and Army 1st Sgt. Billie Joe
